The Cleveland Indians placed All-Star left fielder Michael Brantley on the 10-day disabled list, the team announced Wednesday.

Brantley suffered a sprained right ankle in the fifth inning of Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Colorado Rockies. He also went on the DL in June after hurting the same ankle.

The injury occurred on a fly ball by Colorado's Mark Reynolds. On the play, Brantley took a couple steps toward center, then stopped and sat down on the outfield grass. After being examined by the Indians' trainer, Brantley walked slowly off the field.

Brantley, who was replaced by Abraham Almonte, is hitting .299 with nine home runs and 52 RBIs.

The Indians filled Brantley's roster slot by recalling infielder Erik Gonzalez from Triple-A Columbus. Gonzalez appeared in 39 games with Cleveland this season, batting .263 with two home runs and six RBIs.
