Chicago Cubs, Arizona Diamondbacks have dance off during rain delay

Aug. 4 (UPI) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks might have earned a victory Thursday on the field, but the bigger win came in a dance competition against the Chicago Cubs.

Chicago and Arizona were stuck in their dugouts as rain poured on Wrigley Field in Chicago. Both teams decided to give the fans their money's worth by putting on masks and debuting some creative dance moves during the multi-hour delay.

The Cubs walked back to their bullpen with horse, owl and chicken masks on. The Diamondbacks answered with T.J. McFarland wearing his uniform upside-down. Arizona then pretended to be on a bobsled with a row of chairs.

Carl Edwards Jr. answered back for the Cubs with a pretend cast and catch while 'fishing' from his chair. He eventually reeled in a teammate.

Rubby De La Rosa then pretended to be a bowling ball for the Diamondbacks, knocking down a tricky 7-10 split for the squad. His two teammates were the bowling pins.

The delay lasted 2 hours and 35 minutes before the Diamondbacks came away with a 10-8 victory. Both teams combined to use 13 pitchers in the contest. More than 39,000 fans were in attendance for the game.

Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt hit three home runs in the victory.

"They're the defending World Series champions," Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told MLB.com. "And you come into this place, and you grow up and you win a game and you play hard and you do all the little things that we talked about during Spring Training, and you watch all those little moments play out right before your very eyes with the belief that you're going to win this game. And I'm really proud of these guys."

Thursday's game took more than 6:30 hours to complete, including the rain delay.
