The left-handed Wilson, who turns 30 next month, is expected to come into games before Cubs right-handed closer Wade Davis.

Wilson is 3-4 and has a 2.68 ERA with 55 strikeouts over 40 1/3 innings in 41 appearances for the Tigers this season. He is 13-for-15 in save opportunities after taking over the closer role from struggling Francisco Rodriguez in May.

Wilson is owed $2.7 million for this season and remains under team control through 2018.

Avila, 30, is batting .274 batting average with 11 home runs and 32 RBIs. He has played all but one of his nine major league seasons in Detroit and is the son of Tigers general manager Al Avila.

Paredes is an 18-year-old shortstop and has spent the entire season with Class A South Bend, hitting .264 with seven home runs and 49 RBIs 92 games.
