July 21 (UPI) -- Yu Darvish's name is out on the market as the Texas Rangers have reached out to several teams to gauge interest in the right-handed pitcher. Major League Baseball sources told Yahoo Sports Thursday that the Rangers are "gathering information" on what type of return they could get back if the franchise decided to trade the six-year veteran before the July 31 trade deadline.

Darvish, 30, is 6-8 this season with a 3.45 ERA in 20 starts. The four-time All-Star owns a career 3.32 ERA and 52-38 record on the hill. Darvish had a career-best 16 wins in 2012 and led the league with 277 strikeouts in 2013.
Sources told Yahoo Sports that the Rangers are "not committed" to trading Darvish.
Baseball executives told the website that the team's current struggles "could force them" to consider trading the pitcher.
Sources told MLB Network that the Chicago Cubs are one of the teams to ask about Darvish's availability.
Darvish is playing for $11 million this season on the final year of his contract, so a trade would likely be a "rental."
His pact contains a limited no-trade clause, which includes: the Cubs, Oakland Athletics, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, Pittsburgh Pirates and Colorado Rockies, according to SiriusXM Radio.
The Cubs acquired left-handed starter Jose Quintana last week and have also checked in on Michael Fulmer, Marcus Stroman and Chris Archer, among others, according to Peter Gammons.
Last week, sources told MLB Network that the Cubs also remained interested in Oakland Athletics righty Sonny Gray. The Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees are also after Gray, according to reports.
The Cubs (49-45) have the eighth-best ERA in the National League but the fourth-best ERA in the National League Central. The Milwaukee Brewers currently have a one game lead on the Cubs in the division.
