The New York Yankees placed second baseman Starlin Castro on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday.

Castro suffered a strained right hamstring while running out a ground ball on Monday night in the opener of a four-game series at the Chicago White Sox.

The 27-year-old Castro is batting .313 with 12 home runs and 45 RBIs in 73 games in his second season with New York.

To fill Castro's roster spot, the Yankees promoted infielder Tyler Wade from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Wade has played three infield positions at Triple-A and also played four games in the outfield.

New York also made a pair of moves in its bullpen, optioning right-hander Jonathan Holder to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and recalling lefty Tyler Webb from the Triple-A affiliate.

Holder appeared in 32 games with the Yankees this season, logging a 1-1 mark and 3.78 ERA. Webb made a pair of scoreless appearances last week for New York.
