MLB: Watch all of the record seven grand slams hit Saturday

June 4 (UPI) -- Kyle Schwarber, Matt Adams, Ian Desmond, Travis Shaw, Chris Taylor, Albert Pujols and Mike Zunino hit a record seven grand slams Saturday in Major League Baseball.

Schwarber's smash started the bashing bonanza at about 3:30 p.m. The Chicago Cubs outfielder stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning while his team trailed 3-1. The Cubs won their contest against the St. Louis Cardinals 5-3.

"It was nice to come up in that spot and be able to help out," Schwarber told MLB.com. "It's kind of a sigh of relief. I want to go up there and help my team, and for me to do that today was great."

Just over an hour later, Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Adams joined the party. Adams stepped to the plate in the fifth inning against the Cincinnati Reds. His bases-juiced-hammer put the Braves up 4-1. He came back later with a walk-off solo shot, giving his team a 6-5 win.

"This is just a park where I see the ball well," Adams told MLB.com. "That helps too with the confidence. When you're in the box, you're feeling comfortable and knowing you're going to see the ball well. They've got a tough pitching staff. I was just trying to get a ball out over the plate and put some barrels on some balls."

Colorado Rockies outfielder Ian Desmond joined the party just after 5 p.m. His third home run of the season happened in the seventh inning against the San Diego Padres, with the Rockies up 4-1. Colorado won the contest 10-1.

Travis Shaw stepped up in the seventh inning for the Milwaukee Brewers. The third baseman belted a grand slam, but it wasn't enough to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Brewers lost the contest 10-8.

An hour later in that same game, Dodgers second baseman Chris Taylor belted the fifth grand slam of the day. The Dodgers second baseman took his swipe just after 7 p.m. Los Angeles trailed 8-6 before Taylor's heroic bomb.

There is no question who had the most significant swipe of the day. Los Angeles Angels designated hitter Albert Pujols became the ninth player in baseball history to hit 600 home runs. He did it with a fourth inning blast in the Angels' 7-2 win against the Minnesota Twins.

Seattle Mariners catcher Mike Zunino closed the curtain just before midnight. Zunino's tater came in the fifth inning of the Mariners' 9-2 win against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Schwarber had a 1-for-3 day. His long ball off of Mike Leake was measured at 398 feet, according to ESPN's home run tracker. Schwarber has nine home runs and 23 RBI in 49 games. He is hitting .166 on the season.

Adams' shot off of Scott Feldman was measured at 441 feet. He had a 3-for-6 day with five RBI. He came back in the 12th inning for his 388 foot bomb against Blake Wood. Adams now has five home runs on the season.

Desmond's homer was an estimated 407 feet. He hit it to left center off of Padres lefty Jose Torres.

Shaw's moonshot was measured at 381 feet. It came off of Dodgers right Josh Fields and cleared the wall in right field at Miller Park. Taylor's 428-foot bomb came off of Brewers righty Carlos Torres. The long ball smacked into the wall in dead center.

Pujols' historic shot was an estimated 364 feet and came off of the Twins' Ervin Santana. The Angels slugger was 1-for-4 on the day and is hitting .249 this season. He now has nine home runs and 42 RBI in 51 games.

Zunino's homer came off of the Rays' Alex Cobb and was measured at 444 feet. He was 3-for-4 on the day with a career-high seven RBI.

The old record of six grand slams in a day was set on May 21, 2000. Those sluggers included Garret Anderson, J.T. Snow, Brian Hunter, Jason Giambi, Shawn Green and Adrian Beltre.
