Miami Marlins right-hander Edinson Volquez tossed his first career no-hitter and the sixth in franchise history Saturday in a 3-0 victory over the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks.
Volquez (2-7) capped his 10-strikeout performance in style by fanning the side in the ninth inning, including Chris Owings on three pitches to end the game.
The no-hitter was the Marlins' first since Henderson Alvarez was on the mound for a 1-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Sept. 29, 2013.
Volquez faced 27 batters and tossed 98 pitches (65 for strikes) to complete the first no-hitter of the 2017 season.
