The Seattle Mariners placed ace right-hander Felix Hernandez and rookie right fielder Mitch Haniger on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday.

Hernandez, who is dealing with inflammation in his right shoulder, allowed four runs and six hits in two innings of Tuesday's 19-9 loss to the Detroit Tigers. The 2010 American League Cy Young Award winner and six-time All-Star owns a 2-2 mark with a 4.73 ERA in five starts this season.

Hernandez is expected to be sidelined for at least two to three weeks, MLB.com's Jon Paul Morosi reported, citing a source.

Haniger sustained an oblique strain after hitting a single in the third inning of Tuesday's contest. The 26-year-old is batting .338 and leads the American League in runs (20) heading into Wednesday's action.
