The Washington Nationals activated shortstop Trea Turner from the 10-day disabled list prior to Friday night's game against the host New York Mets.

Turner, 23, missed the past 10 games with a hamstring injury.

Manager Dusty Baker told reporters that Turner won't start Friday's game but will be available off the bench.

Turner batted .158 in 19 at-bats prior to the injury.

Turner was runner-up for National League Rookie of the Year honors last season when he batted .342 with 13 homers and 33 stolen bases in just 73 games.

Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy was back in the lineup after missing one game due to leg tightness.

To make room on the roster for Turner, Washington designated infielder Grant Green for assignment.
