April 13 (UPI) -- On Wednesday, the Chicago Cubs unveiled something that took 108 years to make: its World Series rings.
The ring features the Cubs' bullseye logo on its face, made from rubies, sapphires, and diamonds. There are 108 stones in the ring, symbolizing the 108 years it took the Cubs to win the World Series.
One side features the Cubs' "W" flag, while the other features the marquee from Wrigley Field. On the back of the ring, Jostens Inc. inscribed the Cubs' motto: "We never quit."
"To see this ring, I think it's going to excite everybody in Chicago and every Cub around the world," said Miran Armutlu, master jeweler at Jostens Inc., in a video released by the team.
Players received the treasures Wednesday, before the Cubs lost 2-0 to the Los Angeles Dodgers at Wrigley Field.
The rings are made from 14-karat white gold and include a total of 5.50 carats of diamonds, 3.0 carats of Burmese rubies, and 2.5 carats of genuine sapphires.
"It exceeded expectations," Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber said of the ring, via MLB.com. "That was unbelievable. It's a beautiful ring. It's perfect."
Inside of the band, it also reads: "11-3-2016, 12:47 a.m." That is the time and date of when the Cubs beat the Indians in Game 7 of the World Series. The inside of the ring also features the world famous billy goat, which cursed the franchise for more than a century.

"Our organization will be rewarding rings to everyone who is a part of the Cubs organization, including all of the fan facing positions in the ballpark," said Crane Kenney, president of business operations for the Cubs. "From our longtime staff, the folks who have been at this thing so long, I think it'll be the accomplishment of a mission, the scaling of a hill. Wrigley Field and this team mean so much to Tom [Ricketts] and his family that they just want to give back. And by rewarding rings to everyone in the organization, it's a way of them saying thank you."
The Cubs will give out 1,908 pieces of jewelry. Chicago also sold cupcakes with rings on top during the game. You can get a similar ring to the one given to the players for $10,800 on the Jostens website.
