April 11 (UPI) -- David Ross was still a fan favorite when the Chicago Cubs showed the retired catcher dancing on its video board during a rain delay.

Ross, who retired this offseason, joined the Cubs as a special assistant to baseball operations in January. The 40-year-old is competing on ABC's Dancing with the Stars.

During the Cubs' pregame World Series ceremony Monday, Wrigley Field was hit with rain showers. The weather delayed the banner ceremony and began to make fans restless. The Cubs attempted to ease the anxiety by showing Ross dancing on its big screen.

Ross scored a 31-of-40 for his routine with Lindsay Arnold. Mr. T was eliminated Monday night on the hit show filmed in Los Angeles.

Ross won two World Series titles in 15 seasons while playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves and Cubs.
