Colorado Rockies troll fans with fake picture for Pi Day

March 14 (UPI) -- It looked too good to be true and it was.

The Colorado Rockies excited math fans everywhere when it posted a photo on its Twitter account to commemorate Pi Day on Tuesday. Baseball players sporting Rockies jerseys lined up with their backs to the camera.

They lined up for the first 30 numbers of the mathematical formula: 3.14159265358979323846264338327.

Pi Day is celebrated annually on March 14 or 3/14.

"What are the chances," the Rockies tweeted.

Unfortunately the chances weren't good, because the team later admitted that the picture was photoshopped. The picture came from a spring training contest at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale, Arizona. The math loving baseball squad lost 4-2 to the Kansas City Royals in the matchup.

The Rockies battle the Milwaukee Brewers at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, March 15 on the same field.
