Feb. 16 (UPI) -- There is a reason why Mike Trout has had one of the most decorated starts to a career in Major League Baseball history.

The two-time American League MVP has been posting videos of his offseason workouts lately as he prepares for the 2017 season in New Jersey.

On Thursday, the Los Angeles Angels outfielder posted a video of him running with a bar of weights lifted behind his head. FOX Sports reported that the weights were 135 pounds.

"@pdrtrainer with a special send off to #LAAspring...," Trout wrote on Instagram.

Trout, 25, hit .315 with 29 home runs and 100 RBI in 2016. He scored a league-high 123 runs, walked a league-high 116 times, and had an MLB-best .441 on-base percentage. Trout was the 2012 Rookie of the Year and is a five-time All-Star.

Trout made $16 million in 2016. He is due $20 million in 2017 and $34 million annually through 2020. He will not play for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. Trout proposed to his longtime girlfriend last July.
