Pittsburgh Pirates bring back Ivan Nova on three-year deal

Ivan Nova will sign a three-year contract to remain with the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to multiple reports Thursday.

Nova's deal is worth $26 million with a $2 million signing bonus, per FanRag Sports.

The 29-year-old right-hander was traded to the Pirates from the New York Yankees prior to last season's trade deadline. He was 5-2 with a 3.06 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 11 starts with Pittsburgh.

"If there's something I can do to stay here (in Pittsburgh), it's what I will do," Nova told MLB.com after the season ended.

He started the year 7-6 with a 4.90 ERA in 21 games (15 starts) with New York.

Overall, Nova is 58-41 with a 4.30 ERA and 595 strikeouts in 142 games (129 starts) between the Yankees and Pirates.

The former international free agent joined the Yankees on July 15, 2004. He posted a career-best 16-4 record with a 3.70 ERA in 28 games (27 starts) in 2011 and finished fourth in American League Rookie of the Year voting.
