Washington Nationals' Bryce Harper marries girlfriend

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- One of baseball's best players gained a teammate this weekend in San Diego.

Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper married longtime girlfriend Kayla Varner at the San Diego Mormon Temple.

"Mr. & Mrs. Harper," Harper wrote on Instagram. "Thank you to the insanely amazing @indiaearl..We couldn't of asked for a better day."

Nationals teammate Jayson Werth and former teammate Ian Desmond were in Harper's wedding party.

Harper, 24, was the 2015 National League MVP. He has earned four All-Star appearances since being named 2012 National League Rookie of the Year. He cashed in for 'just' $5 million this season and is arbitration eligible in 2017. Harper is rumored to be looking for a $400 million mega-deal.
