BOSTON -- Things are going from bad to worse for the last-place New York Yankees, who head into this week's three-game series in Baltimore with five consecutive losses and an 8-15 record -- their worst start since 1984.

The Yankees scored seven runs at Fenway Park on Sunday night, but even that wasn't good enough in a 8-7 loss that completed the Boston Red Sox's three-game sweep.

There are no such thing as moral victories when a season is starting to slip away.

"Hopefully it sets the tone for us," Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez said after driving in four runs, two with his 692nd career homer. "We have not done what we did tonight in a while."

As far as any changes that might be coming, manager Joe Girardi said, "Don't know where you would necessarily go, in a sense. These guys in the room need to get it done. We need to get it done collectively. So, I'm not thinking about that."

Tuesday night, young righty Luis Severino takes an 0-3 record and 6.86 ERA to the mound against the Orioles -- hardly the kind of thing that gives a floundering team confidence.
