HOUSTON, April 13 (UPI) -- Sometimes karate kicks are necessary in baseball.
Tuesday wasn't one of those times. Astros center fielder Carlos Gomez channeled Bruce Lee after the bullpen door was falling apart in the outfield last night in Houston.
Just one batter into the game, the door was flailing open, and Gomez decided to try to kick it shut. But Gomez's karate kick effort failed, as the door seemed to break even more.
The Astros also came up short, falling to the Kansas City Royals 3-2 at Minute Maid Park. Gomez is 6-for-28, with no home runs or RBI so far this season.
