SAN DIEGO, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Dodgers two-time All-Star Matt Kemp's hips could keep him from traveling down I-5 to join the San Diego Padres.
On Dec. 11, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Kemp and catcher Tim Federowicz were traded to San Diego for catcher Yasmani Grandal and pitchers Joe Wieland and Zach Eflin. The deal came, pending a physical, for Kemp who has had numerous injuries in his nine year career.
The Tuesday physical revealed arthritis in both hips, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale.

The Dodgers, who were sending Eflin to Philadelphia for Jimmy Rollins, would have to rework the deal should San Diego decide it doesn't want Kemp. Kemp, a career .292 hitter, has hit at least 23 home runs in five of his last six seasons.
A Padres official told FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal Wednesday that the physical was "still inconclusive on Kemp."
