The 14-time major winner hit a 306-yard drive into the rough on the right of the fairway, before sending his next shot 161 yards. He approached his third shot standing 95 yards from the hole.

Woods pulled out his wedge and lofted his next shot just past the hole but got it to roll back toward the pin, before it dropped in. The huge crowd exploded in a celebration after the brilliant effort.

He went on to par the next three holes before picking up a birdie on No. 15. Woods made par on 16 and 18, but bogeyed No. 17.

Woods tees off with Patrick Reed at 11:20 a.m. Saturday at Muirfield. Kyle Stanley and Joaquin Niemann are tied for the lead at 11-under-par.
