Lucas Glover says wife 'attacked' him after 'bad' round at Players

May 15 (UPI) -- Police arrested the wife of PGA Tour golfer Lucas Glover and charged her with battery after she allegedly confronted her husband about his showing at The Players Championship, law enforcement said.

Krista Glover was arrested at 10:22 p.m. Saturday in Ponte Vedra, Fla. The 36-year-old also was charged with resisting arrest without violence, St. Johns County jail records indicate. She was released at 9:44 a.m. Sunday after posting $2,500 bond.

The 38-year-old golfer dropped out of the tournament after Saturday's third round. He carded a 6-over-par 78 in his final 18 holes. He shot a 1-under-par 71 on Friday and carded a 4-under-par 68 on Thursday.

"On May 12, my wife and mother were involved in an argument to which the police were called," Glover tweeted in a statement. "Everyone is fine. Regrettably, although Krista was charged, we are comfortable that the judicial system is able to address what actually happened and Krista will be cleared in this private matter. We thank you for respecting our privacy as we work through this uncomfortable situation."

The incident occurred at a home located about a mile from TPC Sawgrass, the site of the 2018 Players Championship, an arrest report obtained by News4Jax and Action News Jax said.

The report said Krista Glover told police she was attacked by her mother-in-law. Glover's mother was found inside the home bleeding from several cuts, the report said. Glover also suffered an injury to his arm.

Glover told police his wife yells at him and calls him a "loser," before starting altercations with him when he has bad rounds on the golf course.

The golfer has three career wins on the PGA Tour, including the 2009 U.S. Open.
