Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Rickie Fowler used an array of crafty shots to finish second place in the BMW Championship, including two hacks off of the deck with his driver.

The No. 7 ranked golfer in the world finished five strokes behind tournament winner Marc Leishman. The Australian champion carded a 261 while the American scribbled down a 266 through four rounds at Conway Farms.

Fowler hit one of his best shots during Saturday's third round. He was facing a 274-yard fairway shot, near water and an elevated green. Fowler took a driver out of his bag and went at the pin aggressively, approaching hole No. 8 from about 50 feet. Fowler finished the hole with a par after 3-putting.

On Sunday, Fowler tried it again on hole No. 18. This time he took out his club from 281 yards away. That shot bounced off the back of the green and Fowler again settled for a par.

Fowler's last win came at the Honda Classic in February in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
