The 68-year-old, known as "Nature Boy," was born in Memphis, Tenn. but considers Charlotte his home. The city is playing host to this year's tournament. His daughter Ashley even goes by Charlotte in the wresting ring.

"To be the man, you gotta beat the man, baby," Flair said in the video. "You know who said that? Me, 'Nature Boy.' You need a certain swagger to be the man. A style and profile that's only visible when you are the best at what you do."

"The PGA champion. Every year, there can only be one."

"Woo."

"This year the top contenders have come to Charlotte, N.C. The bright lights and the big city that I put on the map."

"For the next four days the man to beat is that little one inside your head. At Quail Hollow. Get ready for a fight. The green mile. You gotta walk that mile, woo! Three holes that can take you from champ to chump in a matter of minutes."

Thorbjorn Olesen and American Kevin Kisner were co-leaders after Thursday's first round at four-under.

Rory McIlroy is a favorite to win the tournament this year. Followed by Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, Hideki Matsuyama and Rickie Fowler. Fowler is currently tied for eighth and Matsuyama is tied for 15th with Johnson. Spieth is tied for 34th place currently. McIlroy won the 2014 PGA Championship. Spieth is eying a career grand slam if he can secure a victory in North Carolina.

Jimmy Walker is the defending champion of the tournament. Walker was 10-over with an 81 on Thursday at Quail Hollow Club.
