Paul Goydos set a tournament record with a scorching 12-under-par 60 on Saturday to grab a share of the lead after two rounds of the PGA Champions Tour's 3M Championship at Blaine, Minn.

Goydos punctuated his brilliant round in spectacular fashion by burying a 15-foot eagle putt on the final hole to join first-round co-leader Kenny Perry and Gene Sauers atop the leaderboard at 14-under 130.

The 53-year-old Goydos finished birdie-birdie-birdie-eagle to shoot 29 on the back side and finish one shot off his career-best 59, accomplished at the 2010 John Deere Classic.

"I wasn't too concerned that much about it, just trying to shoot the best score you can with the best shots you can," Goydos said of the possibility of setting a record score, according to the Star-Tribune of Minneapolis.

Goydos one-putted 16 times and needed only 20 putts total in the round, when the field set a record for the lowest scoring round in Champions Tour history at 67.883. He had 10 birdies and the eagle in his bogey-free round.

Sauers also did not register a bogey, carding eight birdies in his round of 64, while Perry had seven birdies in his second consecutive 65.

Scott Dunlap also eagled the 18th hole en route to shooting a 63 and was tied with Brandt Jobe (64) at 131, one stroke behind the leaders.

Steve Stricker surged up the leaderboard with a 63, recording birdies on five of the first six holes and 10 total, earning a share of sixth place with Marco Dawson (66) at 132. A cluster of seven players were at 11 under.

Senior tour leader Bernhard Langer followed up his opening 69 with a 66 and was five shots off the lead.
