Former No. 1 Tiger Woods is not ranked in the top 1,000 of the official World Golf Ranking for the first time in his professional career.

Woods was No. 1,005 in Monday's ranking, which accounts for the past two years.

He has only one top-20 finish in the past two seasons, coming in 15th place at the Hero World Challenge.

Woods was ranked No. 1 in the WGR for 683 weeks, more than double the weeks the next highest contender, Greg Norman, spent at the top.

A return to competitive professional golf is not a certainty for Woods, who said June 20 he planned to seek professional help in dealing with pain medication dependency.

Woods was arrested May 29 when police in Jupiter, Fla., found his vehicle parked 15 miles from Woods' home in an awkward manner. Woods was asleep behind the wheel and the vehicle was slightly damaged. Four medications, including Vicodin, were listed on the arrest affidavit.

Woods had four back operations since 2014, including spinal fusion surgery in the spring.
