LAST YEAR: Ryan Moore claimed his fifth victory on the PGA Tour by two strokes over Ben Martin, finishing with eight consecutive pars to shoot a bogey-free, 4-under-par 67. Moore, the 2004 U.S. Amateur and NCAA champion, solidified his lead with birdies on the second and fourth holes, the latter with a 24-foot putt, and played the last 46 holes without a bogey at TPC Deere Run. It was his first victory since he successfully defended his title at the 2014 CIMB Classic in Malaysia. Martin, who carded a 62 in round three, made a run at Moore on the back nine with three consecutive birdies through No. 14, but he could manage only four pars at the finish.

LAST YEAR: Bernhard Langer of Germany sank a 12-foot birdie putt on the final hole to win the tournament for the third time. He posted a one-stroke victory over Miguel Angel Jimenez of Spain and Joe Durant in windy conditions at Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown, Pa. The two-time Masters champion claimed his seventh major title on the PGA Tour Champions and has added the Regions Tradition and the Senior PGA Championship this season for a record total of nine. Langer held a three-stroke lead entering the final round before struggling home in 73, but he sank a 6-foot, par-saving putt on the 17th hole before holing the winner for one of his four victories in 2016.

LPGA TOUR: 72nd U.S. Women's Open at Trump National Bedminster in Bedminster, N.J., Thursday through Sunday.

TV: Thursday and Friday, 2-7 p.m. EDT, on Fox Sports 2; Saturday and Sunday, 2-7 p.m. EDT, on Fox.

LAST YEAR: Brittany Lang captured her first major title and second LPGA Tour victory by three strokes over Anna Nordqvist of Sweden in a three-hole aggregate playoff. The Swede was assessed a decisive two-stroke penalty on the second extra hole at CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, Calif. After both players parred the first playoff hole, Nordqvist's club head slightly contacted the sand before she started her backswing while playing from a bunker on the second extra hole. Lang and Nordqvist both recorded pars on the hole, but after viewing replays, officials assessed the penalty against Nordqvist, who missed a short par putt on the last playoff hole after being informed of the ruling. Lang closed with a 1-under-par 71, and Nordqvist caught her with a 67.
