Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray will not be playing in the NFL next season.

That's the emphatic statement from Scott Boras, Murray's agent who negotiated a $4.66 million contract with the Oakland Athletics. The A's made Murray the ninth pick in the 2018 MLB Draft.

"Kyler has agreed and the [Oakland] A's agreed to a baseball contract that gave him permission to play college football through the end of the collegiate season," Scott Boras told the NFL Network. "After that, he is under contract to play baseball. That is not a determination to make. It's already done."

After the Heisman announcement on Saturday, Murray was asked if he was open to playing football as a pro, as well as baseball.

"I'd like to do both, if possible," Murray said. "But I don't know how possible that is."

Impossible for now, according to Boras.

"From a contractual perspective, it is set," he said.

If he was to decide to play football and forgo a baseball career, scouts have indicated he would be no more than a second-round pick and most likely a third-round pick.
