Tennessee running backs coach Robert Gillespie is leaving the school, multiple media outlets reported.

The move comes five days after new head coach Jeremy Pruitt officially announced his staff for the upcoming season. Gillespie's departure initially was reported Tuesday by VolQuest.com, which cited multiple sources.

Gillespie had been the lone holdover from the previous coaching staff to remain with Tennessee. He had been with the Volunteers since 2013 and also served as the recruiting coordinator since 2015.

A pair of running backs -- Rajion Neal (2013) and Jalen Hurd (2015) -- each rushed for more than 1,000 yards since Gillespie was hired. Gillespie also coached Alvin Kamara, who was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2017 as a member of the New Orleans Saints.

A former standout running back at Florida, Gillespie also coached at West Virginia, Oklahoma State and South Carolina before arriving at Tennessee.
