Florida Gators hire Larry Scott as Ja'Juan Seider moves to Penn State

Things change quickly in the college football coaching world, and Florida, under new coach Dan Mullen, is a prime example.

On Jan. 11, Florida said Mullen had completed his first coaching staff, with Ja'Juan Seider being the only holdover from the previous Florida coaching staff. Even Seider would have a new role as he was moved from running backs coach to tight ends coach.

On Thursday, Mullen completed his staff again, hiring Larry Scott to replace Seider as the Gators' tight ends coach after Seider left to become the running backs coach at Penn State.

Scott was Tennessee's offensive coordinator last season, and he served as Miami's interim head coach after Al Golden was fired midway through the 2015 season.

"We are excited to have someone of Coach's Scott's coaching experience and background in the state of Florida," Mullen said in a statement. "Larry will do a great job coaching our tight ends, which is one of the most important positions on our staff based on how we utilize that position and the flexibility they have within our offense."

Soon after Florida announced the hiring of Scott, Penn State announced the hiring of Seider, which forced an adjustment on the Nittany Lions' staff.

Seider was named the running backs coach, and David Corley, who was added as Penn State's running backs coach earlier this month, will now coach wide receivers.

"He comes highly recommended from a lot of people in the industry I respect. Ja'Juan has a quiet confidence and a natural charisma that will relate well to our running backs.
