Clemson Tigers Football: Team building slide in training facility

CLEMSON, S.C., Dec. 14 (UPI) -- While the Clemson Tigers prepare for its most important game of the season, construction works are building a slide in its football facility.

The Clemson Football Twitter accounted tweeted Tuesday that coach Dabo Swinney had the idea for the amusing installation.

"Coach Swinney wanted the best and most fun Football Ops Facility in the country," the tweet said.

The slide is expected to be completed on Jan. 26. The Tigers battle the Ohio State Buckeyes on New Years Eve in a College Football Playoff Semifinal in the Fiesta Bowl at 7 p.m. at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Clemson broke ground on the new state-of-the-art facility in November of 2015.

"It is going to be the epitome of Clemson," Swinney said in an April 7 YouTube video. "Fun, special, unique...it's going to be the best in the country, without a doubt. Everything in this building is what is best for our players.

The $55 million facility features sand volleyball and yard games, an outdoor kitchen and grilling area, a fire pit, a 24-seat HD theater, indoor golf simulator, barbershop, arcade, bowling alley, and laser tag.

The 140,000 square foot complex also includes a rehab facility, 50-person plunge pools, 20,000 sq. ft. weight room, recovery/nap rooms, nutrition center, and more.

Swinney is 87-28 all-time as coach of the Tigers.
