A member of Baylor's 2016 recruiting class was granted a release from his letter of intent and committed to play for Oklahoma State.

Defensive tackle D.Q. Osborne transferred to Baylor in February from Kilgore (Texas) Junior College, but after the sexual assault scandal created a firestorm at the school this spring decided to leave.

The 6-foot, 310-pound Osborne, a junior, will be eligible to play this fall for the Cowboys. He also considered Texas Tech and New Mexico.

"I liked the coaches and the campus is beautiful," Osborne told Scout.com. "I can see myself playing football here the next two years and enjoying being at the school. I enjoyed everything about my visit. Yes, I am happy to know where I am going to be playing football and going to school for the next two years."

As many as seven Baylor signees are trying to secure releases from their letters of intent to transfer elsewhere, but Osborne was not one of the seven.

Meanwhile, a Baylor spokesperson told the Austin American-Statesman that the school's board of regents did not vote on the status of coach Art Briles, who was suspended May 26 with intent to terminate after the reports of sexual assaults involving members of the football team and the manner in which the program handled the allegations surfaced.

It was reported Monday by USA Today that some Baylor donors wanted Briles to serve a one-year suspension and then return to coaching.

Briles, 60, was 65-37 in eight seasons while taking the program to unprecedented heights. The Bears have won 10 or more games in four of the past five seasons.

Briles had eight years left on his contract when he was let go amid detailed findings that revealed the football program turned a cold shoulder to alleged victims of sexual assault and violence.

Baylor hired former Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe as interim coach on May 30.
