Will Muschamp buys island, home in South Carolina

LAKE MURRAY, S.C., Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Sometimes spending big precedes winning big.

That is the case for Will Muschamp, who purchased an island home on Lake Murray for $1.85 million, before coaching a game for the Gamecocks.

Muschamp signed a five-year, $16 million deal to coach the football team after the departure of Steve Spurrier.

The 9,417-square-foot home had been listed for $2.275 million before the coach, 44, snagged a deal.

According to listings, the home has five bedrooms, five full baths, two half baths, cathedral ceilings, a foyer with two staircases, a library, media room, office and a Florida room.

Muschamp had a 28-21 record in four seasons at Florida before being fired and becoming a defensive coordinator at Auburn.
