Josh Doctson posted the hottest receiving performance in TCU history, and the senior receiver said it should have been better.

Must be some lofty standards he's keeping if tying school and conference records with 18 receptions, setting a new school mark with 267 receiving yards and scoring three touchdowns isn't sufficient.

"I had two drops," Doctson told reporters. "I'm supposed to go perfect. My goal every game is going perfect -- catch everything. It wasn't a complete game."

Yet into the history books it goes as the top receiving game in Horned Frogs' history. The big game helped No. 4 TCU record a 55-52 victory over Texas Tech last Saturday to remain unbeaten after four games.

The Horned Frogs have won 12 consecutive games -- second-best nationally behind Ohio State's 17 -- as they prepare for a home game against Texas.

TCU senior quarterback Trevone Boykin will again be looking for Doctson in the game against the Longhorns. Just four games into the season, Doctson has 35 receptions for 593 yards and six touchdowns.

"I knew a lot was riding on me in regard to the passing game," Doctson said. "So I just stepped up and made plays when my number was called."

The Horned Frogs have been winning games with offense and have topped 600 total yards in each of the past three games -- gaining over 700 in each of the last two.

TCU is averaging 51 points per game, and defensive-minded head coach Gary Patterson is starting to enjoy the high-scoring affairs.

"Outscoring people for 12 ballgames, why not? Everybody else has been doing it," Patterson said.

"I've been having to do it with defense and winning 17-10. How about we go nine and 10 ballgames and outscore people? That would be nice. ... If I win 17-10, I have no offense. Now I win 55-52, and you're going to say we're going to have to ride Doctson and Trevone."

That's TCU football." -- TCU running back Aaron Green, on the wild back-and-forth contest against Texas Tech improving the Horned Frogs' record to 4-0.
