Aggies' LB Claiborne arrested on drug charges, suspended from team

COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Standout freshman Texas A&M linebacker Darian Claiborne was arrested on two drug possession charges, the Brazos County Jail website said.

Claiborne, who led the Aggies with 89 tackles in the regular season and earned SEC all-freshman team honors, was arrested Sunday on charges of possession of a dangerous drug and possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana, the Houston Chronicle reported Monday.

The dangerous drug he allegedly possessed was not identified.

The school announced his suspension from the team following his arrest, adding he would not travel to Atlanta for the team's appearance New Year's Eve in the Chik-fil-A Bowl against Duke.
