LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Los Angeles firefighters said they treated 10 fans for injuries suffered during and after the University of Southern California football game.

Five people were hurt when thousands of fans poured on to the field at the Coliseum to celebrate USC's 20-17 upset victory over Stanford Saturday, KNBC-TV, Los Angeles, reported.

"They normally control it so people don't get onto the field, but this time I think there was just so much excitement they let the people go," USC fan Joe Sullivan told KNBC-TV.

Five other fan injuries were reported during the game, but details were not available.

The fire department said injuries on the field included one person who fell and another with a broken ankle. All of the injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
