GRAMBLING, La., Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Grambling State changed head coaches for the second time this year Thursday amid a player revolt that has seen the team fail to practice for two straight days.
Grambling, which won the 2011 Southwestern Athletic Conference title in 2011 under former coach Doug Williams, has lost 17 games in a row.
Williams was dismissed in September and replaced by George Ragsdale on an interim basis. Ragsdale, in turn, was removed Thursday in favor of defensive coordinator Dennis Winston.
The Shreveport Times reported Grambling players walked out of a meeting with school officials after practice Tuesday. They have not been back on the practice field since.
Among the players' complaints has been their dislike for long bus trips to road games and a lack of quality training facilities. Grambling is scheduled to play at Jackson State Saturday.
