LOUISVILLE, Ky., Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Terry Bridgewater's second scoring pass of the game late in the fourth quarter Thursday finally wrapped up a 24-10 win for No. 8 Louisville over Rutgers.

Rutgers gave the Cardinals a battle despite persistent offensive struggles and edged within seven points when Kyle Federico made a 36-yard field goal just 50 seconds into the final period.

Louisville, however, put the game away with a five-play, 50-yard touchdown drive that came after the Cardinals recorded their fourth interception of the game.

Bridgewater's 6-yard touchdown pass to Eli Rogers clinched the victory and kept Louisville unbeaten in its six games this season. The Cardinals are 2-0 in the American Athletic Conference race while Rutgers fell to 4-2 for the season and to 1-1 in league play.

Bridgewater's first scoring pass was a 34-yarder to Kai De La Cruz that gave Louisville a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter. The Louisville quarterback completed 21-of-31 passes for 310 yards with an interception.

Rutgers cut its halftime deficit to 17-7 on a 1-yard throw from Gary Nova to Tyler Kroft with 2:01 to go in the second period. Nova, however, was intercepted four times and he guided the Scarlet Knights to just 10 first downs for the entire game.

Louisville outgained Rutgers 464 yards to 216.
