EVANSTON, Ill., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Trevor Siemian and Kain Colter combined for five touchdowns and 371 passing yards Saturday, elevating No. 20 Northwestern over Syracuse 48-27.
The quarterbacks played on alternating series and each performed well as the Wildcats (2-0) opened the season with a second straight win.

Siemian completed 17-of-21 passes for 270 yards with three scores. Colter (13-of-16, 110 yards) passed for one score and ran for another, finishing with 101 rushing yards on nine carries.
Tony Jones made nine catches for 185 yards and a touchdown in the victory.
The Orange (0-2) were victimized by four interceptions coughed up by Drew Allen, who passed for 280 yards and a touchdown on 27-of-41 efficiency.
