COL FB: Clemson 38, Georgia 35

CLEMSON, S.C., Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Tajh Boyd passed for three touchdowns and ran for two more Saturday, carrying No. 8 Clemson over No. 5 Georgia 38-35 in the season opener for both schools.

Boyd's third TD toss of the game to Stanton Seckinger in the fourth quarter proved to be the key score for the Tigers (1-0), who became the first non-SEC team to upend Top-10 SEC teams in consecutive games after besting Louisiana State in last season's Chik-fil-A Bowl.

Boyd completed 18-of-30 passes for 270 yards.

Aaron Murray amassed 323 passing yards with an interception and ran for a late score to pull the Bulldogs (0-1) within three points, but the loss was sealed when Georgia couldn't recover an onside kickoff try.

Todd Gurley picked up 154 yards with two touchdowns on 12 carries for the Bulldogs.
