Kelly to remain at Oregon

EUGENE, Ore., Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Oregon head football coach Chip Kelly, courted by several NFL teams, has chosen to remain in college football.

After lengthy interviews this week with the Cleveland Browns and the Philadelphia Eagles and conversations with the Buffalo Bills, Kelly chose to stay with Oregon, ESPN reported Sunday.

In four years as Oregon head coach, Kelly has amassed a 46-7 record, with four consecutive BCS bowl games and three Pac-12 titles.

Last year Kelly declined a head coaching position with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, saying he had "unfinished business" at Oregon.

His decision to stay suggests he prefers to deal with potential NCAA sanctions over recruiting violations at Oregon, instead of rebuilding a struggling pro football team, the Los Angeles Times said Monday.
