EL PASO, Texas, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Tevin Washington accounted for a passing and rushing touchdown Monday, sending Georgia Tech to a 21-7 win over Southern California in the Sun Bowl.
Washington ran for 41 yards on 16 carries and completed 2-of-4 passes for 22 yards as the Yellow Jackets (7-7) won their first bowl game since 2004 and broke an 0-7 post-season skid.
Vad Lee also spent time behind center for Georgia Tech, running for 52 yards on 10 carries and connecting on 2-of-5 passes for 26 yards with a touchdown.
The Trojans (7-6) -- back in the post-season after a two-year NCAA ban -- were led by freshman Max Wittek, who completed 14-of-37 passes for 107 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.
He was forced to play as quarterback Matt Barkley sat out with a sprained right throwing shoulder.
