ALBUQUERQUE, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Bernard Pierce ran for 99 yards and scored twice Saturday in Temple's 37-15 victory over Wyoming in the New Mexico Bowl.
Quarterback Chris Coyer and Matt Brown combined for 119 more rushing yards as the Owls (9-4) won their first bowl game since 1979.
Temple's potent ground attack racked up at least 200 yards for the eighth straight contest.
Coyer provided a double threat, hurling a touchdown while amassing 169 passing yards in the victory.
The Cowboys (8-5) were led by Brett Smith, who tossed for 127 yards with two touchdowns, but he also was picked off three times in Wyoming's loss.
