COL FB: Louisiana State 38, Tennessee 7

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Jarrett Lee got Louisiana State started with two second-quarter touchdown passes Saturday and the No. 2 Tigers went on to down Tennessee 38-7.

Lee broke open a scoreless battle by throwing for two scores in a span of 5 minutes early in the second period. He hit Rueben Randle with a 5-yarder and Spencer Ware from 13 yards out.

The Tigers put together a typically ferocious defensive performance in running their season record to 7-0 and their Southeastern Conference mark to 4-0. In five of its seven victories, LSU has held the opposition to no more than 11 points.

Ware, Jordan Jefferson and Russell Shepard all had rushing touchdowns in the second half. Jefferson's score came on a 3-yard run at the end of a 99-yard drive that took 8:44 off the clock.

Lee completed 10-of-14 passes for 115 yards and Ware gained 80 yards on 23 carries. Tennessee quarterback Matt Simms was limited to six completions in 20 attempts and was intercepted twice.
