COL FB: Georgia Tech 45, N.C. State 35

RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Orwin Smith scored three times on nine carries Saturday and No. 21 Georgia Tech tallied 24 fourth-quarter points in its 45-35 win over North Carolina State.

Tevin Washington managed to complete just 4-of-12 passes for the Yellow Jackets (5-0, 2-0 ACC), but two of them went for touchdowns and he rushed 16 times for 43 yards.

Georgia Tech won by a double-digit margin for the fourth time in five games this season.

The Wolfpack (2-3, 0-2) got a 20-for-29 performance from Mike Glennon, who passed for 163 yards with two scores and an interception.

James Washington contributed 117 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries for North Carolina State.
