TOLEDO, Ohio, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- A 456-yard, five-touchdown performance by Kellen Moore Friday allowed No. 4 Boise State to overcome a slow start and cruise past Toledo 40-15.

Toledo, which threw a scare into Ohio State before suffering a five-point loss last Saturday, took the early lead against the Broncos and then were overwhelmed by Moore's throwing prowess.

Moore completed 32-of-42 passes in leading Boise State to its 53rd win in 55 games over the last four seasons. The Broncos, who opened the 2011 campaign with a win over Georgia two weeks ago, were hit with NCAA penalties this week for recruiting violations.

After Toledo produced the game's first touchdown and then missed the extra point, Moore drove the Broncos 68 yards in nine plays and hooked up with Tyler Shoemaker for the first of their three touchdowns.

Shoemaker caught a 26-yard throw from Moore to put Boise State in front, grabbed a 1-yard scoring throw in the second period and then caught a 17-yarder in the fourth period.

Moore also threw for touchdowns of 71 yards to Doug Martin in the first quarter and of 12 yards to Kyle Efaw in the third.

Toledo fell to 1-2, giving up 610 yards to the Broncos. Boise State averaged 7.3 yards per play.
