LSU's Skylar Mays dunks over Memphis with authority

By Alex Butler

Nov. 14 (UPI) -- LSU junior Skylar Mays soared through the sky for a gargantuan one-handed jam in the Tigers' win against Memphis.

Mays' mammoth slam came in the first half of the Tigers' 85-76 triumph on Tuesday at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, La.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound guard had the ball out on the left elbow at the beginning of the sequence. He made a few side steps before getting his defender off balance. Mays then dribbled back before blowing by his defender and rushing into the paint. He picked up his dribble in the lane and pulled the ball back in his right hand, jumping into 6-foot-8 Mike Parks Jr.

But the Memphis forward had no chance at stopping the smaller guard, who slammed the ball through the rim for two points.

Mays had 19 points and led the Tigers in scoring. Tyler Harris scored a game-high 20 points for Memphis in the loss.

LSU hosts Lousiana Tech at 8 p.m. on Friday in Baton Rouge.
