Then the lights went out.

The Eagles beat the Blue Devils 89-84 at the Silvio O. Conte Forum in Boston. Gary Trent Jr. led the Blue Devils with 25 points, while guard Ky Bowman poured in a game-high 30 points for the Eagles.

Trent Jr. ran down the court with about six seconds remaining in the contest. He attempted a 3-pointer from the right side just before the final buzzer. The shot clanked off of the front iron before falling for an Eagles rebound. As soon as the final buzzer went off, a wave of students crashed onto the court.

About three seconds into the court storming, the arena went dark as the lights turned off. The only lights came from the scoreboard, shot clocks, sideline advertisements and cellphones.

The win was Boston College's first against a ranked opponent since the Eagles beat No. 1 Syracuse on Feb. 19, 2014. The 7-3 Eagles have now won back-to-back games heading into Tuesday's 7 p.m. contest against Columbia at the Conte Forum.

"I think this win really came down to preparation for us," Eagles coach Jim Christian said in his postgame press conference. "We had a great week of practice. It was really good that we had some time to prepare for them because they are so good. Then it came down to poise. And its funny because as we counted it down, 20 minutes until a lifetime memory, then it was 10, then it was eight then it was four. I just thought the whole time, the poise of our kids, when they went up four, we never rattled, we stayed with what we did."
