No. 10 Miami blows by Princeton

MIAMI -- Sophomore guard DJ Vasiljevic scored a game-high 20 points and No. 10 Miami rolled to an 80-52 victory over Princeton on Saturday in the nightcap of the Hoophall Miami Invitational doubleheader at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Vasiljevic missed only two shots -- both 3-pointers. Guard Bruce Brown added 17 points and freshman guard Lonnie Walker IV scored a season-high 12 points for the Hurricanes (7-0).

Guard Amir Bell led the Tigers (2-5) with 13 points.

The Hurricanes took command of the game midway through the first half after the Tigers had worked their way to a 16-14 lead.

Walker hit a 3-pointer to put Miami up by one, and that sparked a 13-0 run that had the Hurricanes leading 27-16 with just over five minutes left in the half.

With Brown getting 14 of his points in the first half, the Hurricanes worked their way to a 38-20 advantage at intermission, holding the Tigers to 8-of-30 shooting for the half.

Miami shot 50 percent in the opening half and owned a 21-13 advantage in rebounds.

The Hurricanes led by as many 20 points, 47-27, just a little over four minutes into the second half and never let the Tigers get closer than 15 the rest of the way. Their biggest lead was 78-49 with just over a minute left.

Princeton ended up shooting 31.1 percent for the game.

NOTES: Miami G Bruce Brown is 12-of-19 from the field and has scored 33 points in the team's last two games. ... Miami is 7-0 for the first time since starting the 2014-15 season with an 8-0 mark. ... The 20 points were a season low for the first half for the Tigers. ... The Hurricanes have held five consecutive opponents to fewer than 60 points for the game. ... Miami's next game is Tuesday back on campus at the Watsco Center against Boston University. The Hurricanes then have an 11-day break for final exams. ... Princeton's next game is Wednesday at George Washington.
