May 15 (UPI) -- Mike Krzyzewski added a star to his 2017 recruiting class Monday, snagging the country's top high school point guard.

IMG Academy's Trevon Duval, a five-star prospect, announced the decision Monday in a video for The Players' Tribune.

Scout.com ranks Duval the No. 7 overall prospect and the No. 2 point guard in his class. He is No. 5 player in the ESPN 2017 rankings. He is listed at 6-foot, 3-inches and 190 pounds.

Duval was also considering Baylor, Seton Hall and Arizona.

"Here's how it all started for me: First I was born, then I was given a basketball," Duval said in the animated video for The Players' Tribune. "I started my life in Queens, a basketball Mecca. And from the time I was old enough to push a ball across my crib, my dad was putting me through drills. The first team I played on was at the YMCA when I was only 2. I was playing against 4-year-olds, and I wasn't just keeping up with them, I was straight crossing those toddlers up. Not long after that, we moved to Delaware. Delaware might not mean much to some people, but to me, it's like a big family.

"Everyone knows everyone. It's the place that raised me. When I was 6, I joined my first AAU team: the Delaware Sharks. We traveled up and down the east coast to play against top teams filled with 9-year-olds. From there I moved from team to team, always in search of better competition regardless of age.

"In eighth grade, I was invited to the CP3 Rising Stars Camp, where I competed with the top 13-year-olds in the country and proved I belonged. Not long after that, I got my first recruiting letter in the mail. I held it up like a trophy. I felt so proud. Then, more letters came...then more letters. Now I wasn't just a player, I was a prospect. I traveled to tournaments and showcases all over the country and everywhere I went, everyone wanted to know where I would go to college. Basketball has taken me from Queens to Delaware, to places I never even dreamed of when I first started dribbling. I couldn't have made it here without my dad, who has always kept me hungry, and my mom, who has always kept me humble...and with their blessing, today, I'm ready to announce the next step in my journey. Next year, I'm going to be playing basketball at Duke University. I'm excited to evolve as a student, as a basketball player and now and forever as a Blue Devil."

Duke also has commitments from five-star shooting guard Gary Trent Jr., five-star big man Wendell Carter and four-star wing Jordan Tucker. Grayson Allen is due to return to the Blue Devils backcourt after the team lost Jayson Tatum, Luke Kennard, Amile Jefferson, Matt Jones and Frank Jackson from last season.

Scout.com now ranks Duke as the No. 2 recruiting class for 2017, trailing Kentucky. The Wildcats have six five-star commitments and two four-star gets.

Five-star center Mohamed Bamba is ranked the No. 2 prospect in the class by Scout and No. 3 by ESPN. He is still deciding between Kentucky, Duke, Michigan and Texans, among other options.
