March 21 (UPI) -- When your dad is the athletic director at Northwestern, you are born to be a Wildcats fan.

So it wasn't hard to find 11-year-old John Phillips living and dying with each bucket during the Wildcats' 79-73 loss to Gonzaga Saturday at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City.

The CBS broadcast crew cut to Phillips, the son of Jim Phillips, several times during the game. The boy was sporting a Northwestern jersey and did everything from crying to cheering and shouting.

In one clip, he can be seeing saying: "this is so bad." At the end of the game, he is comforted with a hug. The Wildcats lost after earning its first-ever NCAA Tournament win when the No. 8 seed beat No. 9 Vanderbilt in the opening round.

It's too early to know if Phillips will overtake the popularity of the notorious crying piccolo girl.
