COL BKB: Baylor 91, Northwestern State 84 (OT)

WACO, Texas, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Kenny Chery scored 12 of his 20 points in overtime Wednesday while lifting No. 15 Baylor to a surprisingly difficult 91-84 win over Northwestern (La.) State.

A 3-pointer by Jalan West with 15 seconds left in the second half boosted Northwestern State into a 76-76 tie and Chery then missed a driving layup that would have won it for the Bears.

Chery, however, took over in the extra period. His layup and free throw 52 seconds into the session put Baylor in front for good and his 3-pointer with 47 seconds left gave the Bears a seven-point cushion.

Baylor (9-1) won its third in a row since suffering its lone loss to Syracuse. Cory Jefferson led Baylor with 22 points and 10 rebounds and Rico Gathers pitched in 19 points to go with 10 boards. This was Baylor's first game since knocking off Kentucky 12 days ago.

The Demons (4-6) were paced by 26 points, seven rebounds and eight assists from Jalen West.
